The Growth of The Chris Lewis Brand

It’s our birthday! Chris Lewis Fire and Security hits 25 years to the day since its inception. We take this opportunity to look back at the company’s history and the values that drive this Oxford-based company. It was founded with an objective that remains at the heart of the organisation 25 years on: to put customers first. It is this desire to listen, exceed expectations and provide systems tailored to customers needs than has seen the company go from strength to strength and become Oxford’s largest independent fire and security experts. 

Chris Lewis Fire & Security (originally named Chris Lewis security services) was started by current CEO Chris Lewis in 1993. He saw that there were many companies out there installing security products but that often the service and technology advice they gave was far from inspiring. Chris Lewis wanted to set his business apart from the pack by providing innovation, bespoke design, installation and maintenance service to meet the specific needs of its clients, and to offer a level of service support superior to its competitors.

Making things easier for customers.

The desire to provide better service and latest technology was paramount and in order to deliver on this pledge the organisation looked carefully into what customer’s pain-points were and aimed to make service a better experience. Chris Lewis was seen as the go-to pioneering place that brought many of the original IP products to market.

A one stop shop.

One problem that came up time and time again was the need to have a different supplier for fire prevention and another for security. We are able to offer a wide range of both fire and security systems – meaning one consultant, one quote and one installation for all your needs. In 2008, we took this idea even further with the formation of our sister company Chris Lewis Smart Home – so that customers could be provided with an even greater range of products – all under one roof.

2016 saw a new direction for the brand with the unification of Fire & Security and Smart Home – under the umbrella of the Chris Lewis Group, this further strengthened our presence as the largest independent local provider of its type.

This investment and innovation has led to us having twice won the title for best IT imitative at the Security Excellence awards, as well as Chris Lewis being listed as one of the top 50 Most Influential in Fire and Security 2015, by IFSEC Global.
