It has been more 100 days since lockdown began and all of us have had to cope with the considerable impact Covid-19 has had on our lives. We’ve all had to learn, adapt and find new ways to work in very uncertain times. The Chris Lewis Group has developed safe and flexible ways of working and are now all back and running at 100% capacity. With new strategies in a place, we are looking forward to starting new projects and planning for the future.

Putting Our Customers First

Throughout lockdown The Chris Lewis Group continued to make sure our customers’ systems stayed in working order and we kept our helpline going 24 hours a day. During lockdown we understood how important it was for people to be able to get in touch with us, we worked hard to make sure we stayed connected with our customers and helped them whenever possible. The feedback we had was very positive:

 I was promptly rung by a polite and knowledgeable individual who was able to make a good assessment of the fault, over the phone. Arriving about 20 minutes later, and an hour before my expectations, he very efficiently analysed the situation which concurred with his initial diagnosis. At all times the engineer was fully aware of COVID type risks, and we maintained a correct social distance after mutually agreeing we were both minimal risk individuals. All our engineers and anyone who needs to visit customers’ homes have been issued with PPE and hand gel. They follow strict social distancing and the best hygiene practices. Having invested in innovative technology, such as remote maintenance and servicing platforms, we have been able to offer help to our customers, often without the need to even enter their property. These remote support systems worked very well, and we can now offer upgrades for those who would like this service going forwards.

We are happy to say that our maintenance programs are now all fully operational, and we are also able to facilitate site surveys for new projects.

The whole of the Chris Lewis Group team really rose to the challenge that lockdown presented. Chris Lewis CEO said ‘I know that change is never easy but the way the team has adapted to new ways of working has been fantastic. We’ve all been keeping in touch as much as if we were in the office, using video conferencing to help to keep everyone feeling like part of team’. Many members of the team who haven’t been able to do their normal role within the organisation have been given the opportunity to take part in online training courses to help them develop their skills about progress in their careers.

However, the whole team at Chris Lewis Fire & Security have been working incredibly hard to ensure that we can still offer the highest levels of support to our customers and maintain outstanding levels of service.

Recently, one of our customers was so impressed by our support that they wrote to us to pass on this feedback:

 I have to confess to being totally impressed by the service received from Chris Lewis yesterday.

We had a fault on our alarm system which became both almost nonstop and unbearable starting at around 9.00pm. After about four phone-calls from the monitor, they contacted your service engineers to alert them to the situation.

 I was promptly rung by a polite and knowledgeable individual who was able to make a good assessment of the fault, over the phone.

 Arriving about 20 minutes later, and an hour before my expectations, he very efficiently analysed the situation which concurred with his initial diagnosis, checked the batteries which he had diagnosed as the likely fault and finally replaced the dud with a spare he had presciently brought with him.

Job done! A night’s sleep for the household, including the dog, was back on the agenda.

We agreed to book a full service on Monday to check the whole system over.

 At all times the engineer was fully aware of COVID type risks, and we maintained a correct social distance after mutually agreeing we were both minimal risk individuals.

In short if I were to rate Chris Lewis’s performance on a scale of five the following would be your marks:-

I would like to take this opportunity to reassure our valued customers that, although our offices are currently closed, we continue to be operational and support your systems to ensure they remain safe and compliant.

“Security & fire safety personnel can play a vital role at this time of national challenge. People working in these sectors who are essential to national infrastructure are “Key Workers” for the purposes of the Government’s guidance on COVID-19”

The safety and protection of your premises is vital at this time. A lot of buildings, especially commercial premises are empty and it is therefore critical that your fire and security systems are properly maintained. This will not only protect your building and contents, but it will reduce the strain on emergency services having to attend an alarm.

Over the years our business has invested heavily in technology and we are confident that we have the systems and processes in place to ensure that we can continue to remain operational and support you and your systems during this extremely challenging period.

The health, safety and welfare of our customers and our employees remains a top priority. We are closely monitoring and following information and guidance issued by Public Health England and the World Health Organisation, as well as our industry bodies, and I would like to outline some of the measures that we have put in place, and precautions that we are taking at this time.

Remote access
For customers experiencing problems with their fire, security or smart home system, where possible, our engineers, will try to fix the problem remotely. Where remote access to your system is not operational, we will connect with you using online video applications.

Engineer visits
We are carefully reviewing requests for engineer visits on a case by case basis and doing the relevant risk assessments, but please rest assured that an engineer will attend your site if it is deemed necessary. Our engineers are working in isolation and are following strict social distancing and hygiene protocols at all times.

If there are any additional or specific precautions that you require our engineers to undertake in relation to Covid-19 before or during a site visit, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

As a business we have taken a number of steps to serve our valued customers in these difficult times. I wanted to update all of you on the measures we are taking as a business to ensure your property stays protected and we stay connected.

We as always will operate a 24-hour helpline for all our contracted customers and have engineers on call outside normal working hours.

In the unlikely case of closure to our office all our staff have the ability to work from home if necessary with full office connectivity.
All normal methods of communication via our cloud service platforms will be available, phone, email and video if you need us.
Where we have access we can also remotely access your systems.

We have the ability to tap into our wider network of companies and subcontractors across the country for further engineering resources if needed.

At this moment we are happy to report that we feel that we have in place a robust system and should not see any drop in service levels but we will be daily monitoring this.
