Celebrating our apprentices every day of the year

apprenticeship week

National Apprenticeship Week recognises the invaluable worth of our trainees

We recently saw the focus on apprentices in National Apprenticeship Week, with companies around the country taking time to raise awareness of the vital role apprentices play within the workforce.

Apprenticeships at The Chris Lewis Group

Chris Lewis Fire and Security have long been committed to an apprenticeship program. As an organisation, we have trained more engineers than any company in our region and we have been recognised in apprenticeship awards. Our track record of supporting, training and helping young people on their path to a fulfilling career is something we are very proud of. Our apprentices add such great value to our team.

Benefits of being an apprentice with us

One of the best parts of an apprenticeship is being able to gain practical hands-on experience whilst also earning industry recognised qualifications. What’s more, many of our apprenticeships join the company once their apprenticeship is complete and can progress on their career journey with us. And, of course, as well as work-based learning and college tuition, our apprentices also get a salary.

  • Hand-on training and work-based learning
  • NVQ qualifications
  • We pay our apprentices
  • The chance to start a long and successful career with our company

Our apprentices are also award-winning, having won numerous accolades for our dedication to apprenticeship, including Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer and the South East Learning and Skills Award. We are also involved with the Engineers of tomorrow Challenge run by IFSEC International. This annual event in London is a skills contest that sees apprenticeships work in teams to showcase their newly acquired knowledge.

Our young engineers compete against the best of the UK’s security apprentices at IFSEC 2017

This week IFSEC international is holding its security event at ExCel, London. The event is packed with the latest security exhibits, workshops and demonstrations. And one of the highlights is The Engineers of Tomorrow competition.

IFSEC 2017

About the competition

The challenge involves young apprentices from the security industry competing against each other in a live installation challenge.  Taking place over three days, more than 60 engineering apprentices, each in teams of two, will work to prove they have the best skills. At the end of each day, a heat winner will be announced, one team from the heats will then go on to win the title and a £1,000 prize. The final winning team will be announced at the Security & Fire Excellence Awards in November.

Our apprentice engineersGood luck to our stars of tomorrow

Two of our engineering apprentices, Max and Josh, will be taking part in this exciting challenge and we wish them the best of luck.

At the Chris Lewis Group investing in young talent and encouraging them on their learning journey is hugely important to us. We recognise what a valuable asset these young people are and embrace the chance to help them develop a rewarding and fulfilling career.
