The Heyford Hotel

Hotel management needed systems installed to protect their guests and property from fire and intruders, while also providing peace of mind to guests. Beyond security, The Heyford team required an audiovisual partner to support them in creating a timeless, enjoyable experience for visitors.

The challenge was to seamlessly integrate fire protection, security monitoring, and entertainment systems across multiple spaces – from individual guest rooms to public areas like the bar, bowling alley, and restaurant. Each space had unique requirements, from discreet bedroom controls to robust multi-screen systems in the bar area.

Chris Lewis Group partnered with specialist distributor Habitech to design and install a comprehensive system covering fire protection, security, and state-of-the-art audiovisual capabilities throughout the hotel.

Multi-Room Audio & Video

In partnership with Yamaha, we designed and commissioned a high-quality audio system for the sports bar, suitable for both background and party music. High-quality pendant speakers were installed for peerless sound quality and dispersion. Bar staff can control the audio source, zone, and volume easily from a mobile app or portable touch screen.

With twelve 50″ screens across the restaurant, bowling and bar area, we needed to make it easy for staff to manage channels without juggling multiple remotes. We opted for a Control4 multi-room video solution with Blustream video Matrix, allowing staff to select the screen, area and video feed from a portable touch screen or mobile phone.

Master Suite Audio-Visual System

The Master Deluxe suite was equipped with industry-leading smart home technology to create a first-class guest experience. Signature Control4 wall-mounted panels work alongside a Lutron lighting system to offer visitors a best-in-class boutique stay. Lutron lighting lets guests change the mood of the room, alter brightness and turn off all lights with a single button when ready to sleep. The Control4 system and Smart TV enables guests to stream video from their mobile phones to watch their favourite shows from their own Netflix, Prime or AppleTV accounts.

IPTV Room Entertainment System

The guest room entertainment system needed to match the hotel’s modern fittings, fixtures and furniture. We facilitated this with an Otrum Mirage guest entertainment platform that provides a new benchmark in functionality, with an API-centric platform and infinite design possibilities.

The system provides easy access to Freeview, Airtime Video-on-Demand and guest device connectivity with Chromecast. The VOD app provides the hotel an additional revenue stream from the bedrooms, while the user interface displays offers and advertises other services to maximise revenue per customer. Hospitality-certified Google Chromecast allows guests to cast content from their smart device onto the guestroom TV. A QR code gives guests ‘point and click’ connection to the Chromecast service via their smart device’s camera. A multi-day Electronic Programming Guide was also implemented, offering access to 24/7 linear TV scheduling.

Mobile Video Conferencing

Guests are provided with the very latest video conferencing system to hire during their visit. The system includes “bring your own device” conferencing for Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meets, with an optional wireless presentation system available for small business presentations. The hotel can rent this out as part of meetings, with an ROI of just over 1 year calculated from these hires.

CCTV and Security

Our engineers installed a bespoke, integrated, ultra-secure security setup consisting of Verkada CM41 indoor mini domes, CB51-E outdoor bullet cameras and a Texecom Premier Elite alarm system. These systems monitor every angle of the premises – whether management are on-site or on-the-go. The cloud-based CCTV platform allows them to quickly search for people of interest by description and receive alerts of unusual activity from any internet-enabled device.
